Art Camp at All-Star

Today we upcycled old t-shirts I picked up at a thrift store.  The kids we thrilled to get to do tie-dye again this week.  Unfortunately, we ran out of time and didn't finish our beach paintings...will have to start earlier tomorrow!

Kali and her drawing are such a riot of color!
Erica helps Melody weave a beaded lizard.
Connor worked hard to get the perspective right on his drawing of the Titanic.  He did a great job!

This week we cast masks on the students' faces.  I was so pleased that the five year olds were excited to do this (sometimes they are too scared)!  We are also painting a beach scene with palette knives and acrylic paint.  Once again the youngest ones amazed me.

Angela arranges the pens chromatically.  Wonder how long that will last?!

Last day of Art Camp

Just finished my first week of Art Camp at the All-Star Academy and what a fun week it was!  Some of the girls got all excited when they saw their tie-dyed shirts and asked if they could dance.  Sure!  I loved their spontaneity.  Amazingly, they calmed right down and got to work in their sketchbooks.  Didn't their shirts turn out great?

Jessie, Angel and Kelly dance it up!

Angela used up her left-over paint to create a poster for me.  Awesome!

Art Camp at All-Star Academy

I love my job!  This is my first Art Camp at the All-Star Academy.  Several of the students were just 5 years old which I don't have in the camps I teach in Poway.  They were quite capable and brought a level of innocence and enthusiasm to the class that I've missed.  For instance, Kali, shown painting with watercolors below,  exclaimed with a look of amazement on her face, "it's soooo beautiful" as one color would run into another.

Here are some pics of the students painting and showing off their watercolors and one of Keira applying dye to her tie dyed shirt.
