Last day of Art Camp

Today all the campers painted their clay projects and masks.  It was such a busy time that I wasn't able to get photos!  The ones that stayed for the afternoon printed their tie dyed shirts with the designs they created earlier in the week and chilled making shrink art.

Watercolor and more!

In today's class the kids watercolored their parakeets, inspired by a painting by Kaylor Nuth.  They seemed to find the process relaxing and enjoyed letting the water disperse and mix their colors!

Printmaking at Art Camp

This week I introduced my afternoon class to an easy method of creating "plates" for printmaking, using tagboard.  In the past, I've had kids use lino-cutters on rubber blocks....much more professional, but no matter how much you stress safety techniques, someone always gets hurt.  Today, they pulled their prints. They really enjoyed the printing process and were thrilled to see the results of their efforts.

Spring Break Art Camp

First day of camp. What an awesome group of kids!   To get them comfortable drawing in their new sketchbooks, we started off with a directed lesson on fish, using molas for inspiration.  They also made clay tiles and sculptures.  Look at them concentrating!

Clay Class

My group of Christian homeschoolers made clay crosses since Easter is coming up.  I'll show their finished projects in a couple of weeks after they've been painted and fired.  Here is what they did with their leftover pieces:
