All-Star Academy classes starting back up

After a break for the holidays, my class at All-Star Academy started back up today.  The younger kids drew a simple dragon fly design in either markers or colored pencils.  My 5th grader worked on creating values, drawing a bat with pencil.

Prismacolor Birds

Our last project for this session was a colored pencil design of colorful birds inspired by the designer Laurel Burch.

Some of them didn't get finished.  I was dismayed to hear that many of these talented kids don't have colored pencils or oil pastels at home. I encouraged them to ask their parents for PRISMACOLORS for Christmas.  They are expensive, but if taken care of will give them many years of use - super handy for school projects!  Crayola makes an affordable alternative.

Glazing their bowls

This week my students painted glazes onto their little bowls.  The kids at 4S Ranch were totally absorbed in the process while listening to classical music.

Spooky times in Poway!

Just in time for Halloween, my Poway students drew haunted houses and creepy creatures onto their watercolored backgrounds.

Wooooo....Haunted Houses!!

Today my students at All-Star Academy drew haunted houses onto watercolored sunsets that they had prepared last week.  Then they 'spookiefied'  their drawings by adding ghosts, bats, witches, dancing skeletons, etc!

Knee Bowls!

This week I showed my students how to shape a bowls using their knees.  They thought this was hysterical, but were pleased to see how well it works.  In Poway, the weather was nice so we worked in the park:
