Drawing from Observation

This week, my home school students drew a still life from observation.  I encouraged them to look for shadows and highlights.

Today my students learned about using shading to create the illusion of form in a drawing.  They were introduced to charcoal and conté crayons.  We set up a still life with a strong side light to help them observe the shadows.... really hard for the younger ones to see!
